Members of the Cro-PBM Society at Euroanaesthesia 2025.

Members of the Cro-PBM Society participated in the annual congress of the European Society of Anaesthesiology and Intensive Care (ESAIC), Euroanaesthesia 2025, which was held in Lisbon from May 25 to 27.


The delegation was composed of: prim. dr. sc. Tina Tomić Mahečić, dr. Igor Balenović, dr. Dora Karmelić, dr. Eleonora Bračun, dr. Marko Tripković, dr. Filip Žigman, dr. Maja Sirovica i dr. Dora Ivanković-Habeković. During the congress, our members actively participated in numerous professional lectures, workshops, and ESAIC committee meetings, as well as in the scientific part of the program, where they presented a number of their own professional and scientific papers within the framework of Cro-PBM.

  • F. Žigman, M. Sirovica, I. Šitum, T. Tomić Mahečić, D. Ivanković, D. Karmelić: Effect of body mass index and sex differences on perioperative outcomes in hip surgery


  • Đ. Čučević, M. Kasalo, L. Bračun, M. Tripković, T. Tomić Mahečić, I. Balenović: Hemorrhagic shock and disseminated intravascular coagulation following initial presentation of peritonsillar abscess: a case report. We would especially like to highlight the work that among a total of 2,075 submitted abstracts was selected by the ESAIC expert jury as one of the top six and was presented as part of a special session.. The work was presented by dr. Igor Balenović:


  • I. Balenović, R. Baronica, D. Ivanković, I. Tucić, T. Tomić Mahečić, I. Šitum: Saving or not saving an 80-year-old isn’t just a question of age. Another significant recognition was awarded to our member, Dr. Dora Karmelić, who thanks to her work and completed training in the field of patient safety, was named an ESAIC Patient Safety Ambassador.


Participation in such congresses enables us to pursue continuous professional development, stay up to date with the latest scientific insights and recommendations in the field of PBM, present our own work to the wider professional community and establish international collaborations. We look forward to future gatherings and new achievements of our society.
